Fall Trip in Boston

I had an amazing trip seeing LM in Boston.  We had so much fun!  Here are some pictures of what we got to see and do.
But first of all here is the quilt that I sent LM on her bed in Boston.  It is the pattern called Yellow Brick Road.  It is made with a fat quarter selection of Pearl Bracelet fabric by Andover Fabrics and an Amy Butler fat quarter selection, the border is also an Amy Butler fabric.  I love the way it turned out.

On Friday night LM and I went to a great restaurant in Cambridge called Henrietta's Table.  I recommend it.  The decorations in the Charles Hotel where the restaurant is located is decorated with beautiful blue and white quilts.

We got to go to an apple orchard and pick apples.  We had a blast!!!  Here are some pictures of our great adventure.

We had a blast selfie!

We had a wonderful week, I will add some more pictures soon. I can not believe that I forgot my camera so I'm posting these pictures taken with  my iphone.  That night we made apple dumplings that were so good.

Oatmeal Cookies and Miscellaneous Tidbits

This has been a great summer with a lot going on in our family.  But I will start with last Thursday night and the  Oatmeal Cookies from the Pioneer Woman that I made just for fun.  You can not eat just one which meant they all got sent to the Mr's office on Friday morning.  They are simply delicious fresh out of the oven.  This is one of the many reasons that I have been cooking a lot of recipes from Cooking Light this summer.

I am going to do a better job of posting on my blog this fall.  I have made 3 quilts, cut out 5 quilts, knitted two beautiful scarves and cooked a lot.  Plus we had a great two weeks in the mountains.

Some iPhone updates

These past weeks have been captured on my iPhone.
Projects

I put together this simple quilt for LM with her learning how to use a rotary cutter.  We did not use the circles.

Knitting
I'm trying to learn how to make this scarf.
I finally have figured out how to get to the different stitch.  A work in progress.  I am saving the project until I go to Estes Park this summer.  The yarn shop there is helping to teach me more techniques.

This quilt is at the quilters and I can't wait to finish it.
These are some of the projects I'm working on or will complete soon.

Texas Spring Time Ritual

A rite of passage for spring time in Texas is pictures in bluebonnets.  Since I have no grandchildren, Lucy had to stand in for us.  I am pleased with the picture and her sweet attitude!!

Spring Break

This past month I had decided to take a week in Colorado for Spring Break to get some projects started and to try to finish some projects.  I had not really realized when I planned this week away that it really was going to start my month of Spring Break.  My youngest daughter came home from Boston for her Spring Break upon my return from Colorado.  We had so much fun!!  Then the next week my middle daughter came home to run in the annual half marathon at Baylor.  We had a blast!!  I have cooked a lot this month, knitted a lot, and worked on a quilt top.  Here are some of our fun pictures.
The mountains were beautiful but not much snow.  More has fallen since I've been home.

This is turning into a beautiful quilt.  I should finish this week.

Great job!!!  Now some people had to get in the middle of the finish line!

After we finished the Bearathon we had a relaxing afternoon at home.  We then went to Rough Creek Lodge  for a wonderful evening of fun and food.  We love to take friends to Rough Creek that have not been to Texas before for a great introduction to Texas.  We started the evening with some Five Stand and then a fabulous meal!!  The Five Stand was a hit!!  It goes with out saying that the food was over the top.

Greetings from Colorado

I've been in Colorado since Saturday and I have gotten a lot of work done on my projects.  I started by working on a block of the month project.  It was a technique I had not done before called paper piecing.  I think it may be a little early to say but truly not my favorite.

Only 3 pieces completed 21 more to go!

Because I did not want to be frustrated on finishing some projects I started cutting out a new quilt.  It is super cute!!!!

These are just a few of the blocks I have finished.  I'm using the fabric called Marmalade by Bonnie and Camille.  I love it!!

This is going to be a ton of fun to finish.  I plan on getting all the blocks finished before I leave for Texas,  I have to cut my trip a day short because of a snow storm that is to come in on Saturday.
Under no circumstances do I want to miss picking up my youngest at the airport in Dallas on Sunday.

Lucy is having a ton of fun at cousin's camp!!!

Those pictures will come later.

A Hodge Podge

I have been busy the past few weeks getting ready for some R&R in the Rocky Mountains.  I have some projects that I am going to finish while relaxing.

Some of the fun recipes that I have made lately were definitely keepers.

All I can say is amazing!!  Being from Texas I had to use my iron skillet to make cornbread and it is a winner.  I will make it over and over.  Thanks Joy the Baker for a great recipe.

These were over the top!!!!!!  I made them for a dessert one evening and they were sooo good.  The cream on them is cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar.  The pancakes called for a 1/2 cup of cocoa and I did not add the red dye.  It was like eating a brownie pancake.

Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

This recipe came from Barefoot Contessa's How Easy is That? cookbook.  Her books are the best investment that I make when buying a cookbook.  They are my go to books when menu planning and are always reliable.

This next week I will be working on projects and enjoying the scenery of Rocky Mountain National Park.  I also will be driving Miss Lucy to stay with her best friend Griffin.

Lucy turned 2 today.  We have had an interesting journey learning how to raise a Lab puppy, but it all equals to love for her.
Here are some fun pictures of her that we all have enjoyed.
